Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons that inspire a love of learning and encourage student achievement.
  • Contribute to the development and review of the English curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing targeted support and feedback to help students reach their full potential.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices and improve teaching and learning across the department.
  • Support the school’s commitment to inclusion by providing differentiated instruction and tailored support for all learners.
  • Participate in whole-school initiatives and contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and pastoral care.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance your teaching practice and stay up to date with educational trends and innovations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance, and report to parents and carers as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with QTS or equivalent.
  • Relevant teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English, including literature and language.
  • Experience in curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Commitment to inclusion and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a high-performing school or academy.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language (ESOL).
  • Experience in using digital tools and resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Leadership experience or willingness to take on additional responsibilities within the department.
