The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the academic and personal development of students from Year 7 to Year 13. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified teacher who is passionate about education and committed to delivering high-quality teaching in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective English lessons to students across a wide range of abilities.
  • Develop and implement schemes of work that align with the school’s high standards and curriculum requirements.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to support learning and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the English department.
  • Support students in developing their literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and leadership skills.
  • Engage with parents and the wider school community to promote student success and well-being.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and events that enhance the school’s culture and student experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level, ideally with a proven track record of student achievement.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching students across a range of abilities and backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience with inclusion and differentiated instruction.
  • Leadership experience or an interest in taking on additional responsibilities within the department.
