The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive department. The role involves teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including Functional Skills, GCSE, and A Level English. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and contribute to a school that values innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the National Curriculum for KS3–KS5
  • Adapt teaching to support a wide range of abilities, including students working below age-related expectations
  • Demonstrate an understanding of phonics, literacy intervention, and foundational learning where required
  • Assess, record, and report on student progress, ensuring personalised and meaningful feedback
  • Create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment
  • Differentiate effectively to meet diverse learning needs, including SEN
  • Manage classroom behaviour positively, promoting independence, respect, and self-regulation
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and/or above
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing

Preferred

  • Understanding of phonics, literacy intervention, or foundational learning approaches
  • Passion for creative, engaging, and inclusive teaching
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Willingness to contribute to enrichment activities and school initiatives
  • A reflective and flexible approach to teaching and learning
