The Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive department. The role involves teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including Functional Skills, GCSE, and A Level English. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and contribute to a school that values innovation and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the National Curriculum for KS3–KS5
- Adapt teaching to support a wide range of abilities, including students working below age-related expectations
- Demonstrate an understanding of phonics, literacy intervention, and foundational learning where required
- Assess, record, and report on student progress, ensuring personalised and meaningful feedback
- Create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Differentiate effectively to meet diverse learning needs, including SEN
- Manage classroom behaviour positively, promoting independence, respect, and self-regulation
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching English at KS3 and/or above
- Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
Preferred
- Understanding of phonics, literacy intervention, or foundational learning approaches
- Passion for creative, engaging, and inclusive teaching
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Willingness to contribute to enrichment activities and school initiatives
- A reflective and flexible approach to teaching and learning
