The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher with the potential to become a Head of Year, you will play a key role in shaping student learning and development. This position offers a unique opportunity to grow your leadership skills while delivering high-quality education to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students in English.
  • Support pastoral care and contribute to the well-being of students as a potential future Head of Year.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share teaching resources and strategies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance teaching practice and professional growth.
  • Engage with parents and the wider community to support student learning and development.
  • Contribute to the school’s vision and values by fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum developments and implement best practices in teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree in English or a related subject.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards QTS.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate secondary school students.
  • Organised with good time management abilities.

Preferred

  • Experience in pastoral care or leadership roles.
  • Experience with teaching Key Stage 3 and 4 English.
  • Familiarity with mental health and well-being initiatives in schools.
  • Experience with curriculum development and resource sharing.
