The Opportunity:

As an Exams Officer, you will be responsible for leading and managing the school’s external examination process and internal assessments. This is a critical role that ensures all examinations are administered efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with JCQ regulations, supporting both staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and administer all external examinations and significant internal assessments
  • Manage exam entries, results, reviews of marking and coursework/NEA submissions
  • Ensure full compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations
  • Recruit, train and manage a team of invigilators
  • Oversee secure handling and storage of exam materials
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents and external agencies
  • Manage the examination budget and associated expenditure
  • Support the smooth operation of the school’s assessment processes

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Some experience of exam work in an educational setting
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Word
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Experience with Arbor
  • Experience in an administrative or school environment

  • Annualised hours working pattern (up to 1146 hours per academic year)
