The Opportunity:
As a Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, compliance, and functionality of campus facilities. This role is essential in ensuring that students, staff, and visitors have access to a well-maintained and secure environment. You will support the Facilities Manager with a variety of maintenance tasks, including planned and reactive repairs, statutory checks, and keyholding duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the campus.
- Conduct statutory checks in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
- Perform reactive repairs in line with SFG20, TR19 ventilation hygiene, and ACOP L8 water hygiene/Legionella control guidelines.
- Support the Facilities Manager with general maintenance and operational tasks.
- Keyhold and manage building access, including opening and locking up buildings as required.
- Operate fire alarms and lockdown systems in emergency situations.
- Assist with other duties that contribute to the smooth running of the site.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Significant experience in commercial pipefitting and plumbing.
- A qualification in pipe fitting or plumbing.
- Experience in at least one other trade discipline, such as electrical or carpentry.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and outside normal working hours.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
Preferred
- Experience in facilities management or related fields.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Experience with keyholding and building security procedures.
- Strong customer service skills and a willingness to support the school community.
