The Opportunity:

As a Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, compliance, and functionality of campus facilities. This role is essential in ensuring that students, staff, and visitors have access to a well-maintained and secure environment. You will support the Facilities Manager with a variety of maintenance tasks, including planned and reactive repairs, statutory checks, and keyholding duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the campus.
  • Conduct statutory checks in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform reactive repairs in line with SFG20, TR19 ventilation hygiene, and ACOP L8 water hygiene/Legionella control guidelines.
  • Support the Facilities Manager with general maintenance and operational tasks.
  • Keyhold and manage building access, including opening and locking up buildings as required.
  • Operate fire alarms and lockdown systems in emergency situations.
  • Assist with other duties that contribute to the smooth running of the site.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant experience in commercial pipefitting and plumbing.
  • A qualification in pipe fitting or plumbing.
  • Experience in at least one other trade discipline, such as electrical or carpentry.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and outside normal working hours.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in facilities management or related fields.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Experience with keyholding and building security procedures.
  • Strong customer service skills and a willingness to support the school community.
