The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead and inspire a dynamic team, driving the delivery of a high-quality mathematics curriculum that ensures excellent student outcomes and progression. This is a key leadership role with a significant impact on student achievement and departmental culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing mathematics department, ensuring consistent delivery of a rigorous and engaging curriculum.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture that promotes professional growth and shared best practice.
  • Monitor and improve student performance, ensuring excellent examination results and progression to higher education.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s strategic vision.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to teaching staff, supporting their professional development and career progression.
  • Implement innovative teaching strategies and resources to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safeguarding requirements.
  • Represent the department in meetings, inspections, and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, preferably in a Sixth Form College or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and a track record of delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team of teachers and support staff.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in driving curriculum innovation and student achievement.
  • Previous experience in a school or college with an outstanding Ofsted rating.
  • Experience in leading a department through Ofsted inspections or similar evaluations.
  • Familiarity with teacher training and professional development frameworks.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary up to £56,709 per annum, including a management allowance.
