The Opportunity:

As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable pupils at risk of exclusion and those struggling with attendance. You will work closely with schools and families to ensure appropriate placements and provide early intervention, making a meaningful impact on young people's lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate off-site directions and managed moves across multiple schools.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with school staff and families.
  • Secure and monitor successful placements for vulnerable pupils.
  • Provide early intervention and support to ensure long-term success.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure information is accessible to all partner schools.
  • Work collaboratively with secondary schools and institutions across the border.
  • Support the school's mission to ensure the best outcomes for all students.
  • Contribute to the development of effective strategies for student retention and engagement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within education or social care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with schools, families, and students.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and young people.
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting or working with education partnerships.
  • Knowledge of exclusion procedures and pastoral care strategies.
  • Experience with early intervention and support services.
  • Familiarity with off-site placement processes and monitoring systems.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range (£32,766 - £37,786).
  • Full-time, term-time only position (39 weeks).
  • Fixed-term contract for 12 months.
