The Opportunity:

As a Finance Manager, you will lead and manage the school’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and Trust policies. You will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and payroll, while providing clear and accurate financial information to senior leaders. This role is crucial in maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring value for money across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all financial systems and procedures in line with the Academies Financial Handbook.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and payroll processes.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial information to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Ensure strong financial controls and compliance with Trust and external regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Trust finance team, auditors, and external suppliers.
  • Support the effective use of resources and promote value for money across the school.
  • Lead and manage financial staff, providing guidance and professional development.
  • Analyze financial data to inform strategic decision-making and long-term planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant accounting qualification (CIPFA or AAT Level 3/4).
  • Significant senior-level financial management experience, ideally within education or the public sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and confident use of Excel and financial systems.
  • Ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Experience of influencing and advising senior stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the values of the Trust.

Preferred

  • Experience with financial systems specific to the education sector.
  • Experience of working within a multi-academy trust or similar structure.
  • Knowledge of the Academies Financial Handbook and Trust financial regulations.
  • Experience in managing large-scale financial operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
