The Opportunity:

As a Finance Manager, you will lead and manage the school’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and delivering strong financial performance. This is a key role that supports the school’s mission to provide high-quality education and support for students in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the school’s financial systems, budgeting, and financial reporting in accordance with the Academies Financial Handbook.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and financial management across the school.
  • Collaborate with the Trust finance team, auditors, and external suppliers to maintain financial compliance and transparency.
  • Develop and implement robust financial controls to ensure value for money and effective use of resources.
  • Provide clear, accurate financial information and analysis to senior leaders to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and manage a team of finance staff, offering guidance and support to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support the school’s financial planning and forecasting processes to align with long-term goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and ensure all financial documentation is accurate and compliant.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant accounting qualification (CIPFA or AAT Level 3/4).
  • Significant senior-level financial management experience, ideally in education or the public sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use Excel and finance systems effectively.
  • Experience in managing financial operations and providing financial reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to influence and advise senior leaders on financial matters.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the values of the Trust.

Preferred

  • Experience with financial systems specific to the education sector.
  • Experience in working with academies or multi-academy trusts.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Experience in managing financial audits and external reviews.
