The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and experienced GCSE Science Tutor to support students in the Streatham Vale area. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Science and a commitment to working with students with SEN. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students achieve their academic goals and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality GCSE Science tuition to students in the Streatham Vale area.
  • Tailor teaching methods to meet the individual learning needs of students with SEN.
  • Provide clear and structured guidance to help students improve their understanding of Science topics.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and the school to ensure consistent support for students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and feedback.
  • Adhere to all safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience in the UK.
  • Strong subject knowledge in GCSE Science.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list.
  • University qualification or studying towards one, along with A-levels.
  • Experience working with students with SEN.
  • Passion for teaching and supporting students with learning challenges.

Preferred

  • Experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred teaching methods.
  • Familiarity with creating and implementing individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • Experience with online tutoring or remote teaching methods.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Previous involvement in special educational needs (SEN) training or workshops.
