Summary:

KS1 Tutor required in Mitcham with experience in SEN support.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced KS1 tutor to provide one-on-one support to students in the Mitcham area. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with children with SEN and who can make a real difference in their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualised tuition to KS1 students
  • Support students with special educational needs using the Bright Heart Approach
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to enhance confidence and motivation
  • Follow detailed guidelines and training provided by the agency
  • Communicate regularly with parents and education consultants to monitor student progress
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit the unique learning needs of each student
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular feedback on student performance
  • Attend training sessions and ongoing professional development opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong subject knowledge in KS1 curriculum areas
  • University qualification or currently studying towards one, with A-levels
  • Passion for teaching and working with students with SEN
  • Valid Enhanced DBS certificate (with check of children’s barred list)
  • 2 professional references and a parent reference

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Previous experience in SEN tuition or teaching
  • Familiarity with the Bright Heart Approach
  • Experience in developing individual learning plans (ILPs)
  • Flexibility to work both in-person and online
