The Opportunity:

This Gap Year Assistant role provides a unique opportunity to gain experience in both Physical Education and Special Educational Needs support. The post-holder will work closely with the Director of Sport and SENCo, contributing to a vibrant and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering a wide range of sporting activities across multiple age groups.
  • Support students in the SEN department with academic and pastoral needs.
  • Collaborate with specialist coaches and teaching staff to provide a varied and inspiring programme.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of Physical Education lessons for Years 7–9.
  • Contribute to the overall pastoral care and well-being of students.
  • Uphold the school’s policies on safeguarding and child protection.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks as required.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Willingness to work with students of all abilities.
  • Flexibility to work on a term-time basis.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in education or working with children.
  • Knowledge of Special Educational Needs support.
  • Experience in sports coaching or physical education.
  • A background in a school or educational setting.
  • A graduate-level qualification or current student status.
