The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a Sports Assistant Graduate to join its Sport & PE Department. This role is ideal for recent graduates with a passion for sport and a desire to pursue a career in education or coaching. The position offers hands-on experience in a variety of sports and the opportunity to work with students across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach or assist with sports teams across all seasons (fall, winter, and spring)
  • Provide cover for PE lessons when required
  • Support PE lessons as an assistant teacher
  • Issue, manage, and maintain sports team uniforms and inventory
  • Collect medical equipment for away fixtures
  • Prepare travel lists and first aid kits for away games
  • Chaperone students for away fixtures and European tournaments
  • Support Sports Department administration and communication
  • Assist with hosting sports tournaments and events
  • Maintain sports equipment to a high standard
  • Undertake Resident Tutor duties within the boarding houses as required

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Recently obtained degree in PE, Sport, or a related discipline
  • A genuine passion for sport and physical activity
  • Experience of coaching or working with young people
  • Active participation in sport or fitness activities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ICT literate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to use initiative
  • Flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated approach
  • Clear understanding of professional boundaries when working with young people
  • Reliable, hardworking, and committed

Preferred

  • Coaching qualification in at least one of the school’s Tier 2 sports (Basketball, Football, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball)
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
