The Opportunity:

As a Gardener and Groundsman, you will be responsible for maintaining the school’s outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, welcoming, and visually appealing. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to the upkeep of a beautiful and historic campus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and enhance the school's gardens, woodlands, and sports fields to a high standard.
• Ensure all outdoor areas are safe and accessible for students, staff, and visitors.
• Carry out regular maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, and landscaping.
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of outdoor structures and facilities.
• Monitor and report on the condition of the grounds and recommend improvements.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the Facilities Team to support school events and activities.
• Adhere to all health and safety protocols and safeguarding procedures.
• Keep accurate records of all grounds maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Experience in grounds maintenance or gardening.
• Knowledge of outdoor maintenance techniques and equipment.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Flexibility to work outside and in all weather conditions.
• Valid manual driving license and experience operating a variety of vehicles and machinery.

Preferred

• Previous experience in an educational setting or similar environment.
• Familiarity with sustainable gardening practices.
• Experience with landscape design or horticultural projects.
• Basic knowledge of plant species and garden maintenance.
