The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Geography Subject Leader to join a passionate and dedicated team. This role offers the chance to inspire students and lead a well-resourced department. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving academic excellence and student engagement in Geography.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Geography department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that engage students and promote a deep understanding of Geography.
  • Support the professional development of Geography teachers and non-specialist staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure continuous improvement in attainment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate Geography across the curriculum.
  • Ensure the department is fully resourced and maintains excellent facilities.
  • Promote the importance of Geography in the wider world and its relevance to students’ future.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Geography.
  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching Geography at Key Stage 5 (A Level).
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and technology.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
