Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching that drives rapid progress and fosters curiosity about the social world.
  • Use engaging resources and inclusive strategies to ensure all students achieve the highest possible standards.
  • Develop students’ understanding of sociological concepts, perspectives, and research methods.
  • Work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Support students in making successful transitions to post-16 education and university.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the Social Science curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular activities and pastoral support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher status and relevant subject knowledge.
  • Experience of teaching Social Science subjects at Key Stage 4 and post-16.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that promote critical thinking.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working in a secondary school setting.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching Criminology, Citizenship, Psychology, Religious Studies, or Sociology.
  • Experience with pastoral support or extra-curricular involvement.
  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience with CPD and professional development.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection.
