As a Geography Teacher - Lead Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of geography education. Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the quality of teaching and learning by modelling best practice and mentoring colleagues.
  • Lead the day-to-day management of course provision and ensure a rigorous, engaging curriculum.
  • Optimise the deployment of staff and resources to support a high-performing, collaborative environment.
  • Implement data-driven strategies to raise student achievement and support learner progress.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
  • Collaborate with the MAT network to share best practices and drive innovation in geography education.
  • Ensure the curriculum reflects the IB philosophy, promoting inquiry, global citizenship, and critical thinking.
  • Support the development of students' understanding of geographical concepts across all Key Stages.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Geography teacher with a strong track record in teaching and learning.
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a school setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the geography curriculum and current pedagogical approaches.
  • Ability to manage and lead a department effectively.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

Preferred

  • Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or willingness to train in the framework.
  • Experience in curriculum design and development.
  • Experience in leading staff development initiatives.
  • Experience in data analysis and using insights to improve student outcomes.
