The Opportunity:
As the Head of Geography, you will lead the development of a dynamic and impactful curriculum that inspires students to explore and understand the world around them. This role offers the chance to shape educational experiences that are meaningful, engaging, and aligned with real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a forward-thinking Geography curriculum that integrates fieldwork and real-world learning.
- Support and mentor a team of Geography teachers to ensure high-quality teaching and student outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive department culture that values innovation and professional development.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure a cohesive and interdisciplinary approach to learning.
- Promote the importance of Geography in shaping global citizens and environmental awareness.
- Ensure that all teaching practices are aligned with the school’s values and educational goals.
- Organize and lead departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a Geography teacher with leadership responsibilities or departmental management experience.
- Strong knowledge of Geography curriculum and pedagogical best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality teaching and improve student outcomes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to inclusive and student-centered learning environments.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching BTEC Public Services, Uniformed Protective Services, or Travel and Tourism.
- Experience with curriculum design and innovation.
- Familiarity with using technology to enhance Geography teaching and learning.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
