The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the learning and development of students within a collaborative SEND team. This role is essential in helping students build independent learning skills, social and emotional wellbeing, and metacognitive abilities. You will play a key role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in lessons and SEND support areas, ensuring access to well-organised and uncluttered learning environments.
  • Assist with the delivery of therapy and/or care programmes designed by external agencies.
  • Provide supervision during break and lunchtimes, and support students during educational visits.
  • Scaffold students’ learning and promote positive relationships with students and adults.
  • Maintain a presence in lessons to support the teaching team and enhance student outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people, ideally those with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Commitment to the learning process and a focus on student development.
  • Ability to remain calm, objective, and a positive role model in all situations.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting, particularly within SEND support.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and approaches to support diverse learners.
  • Experience in delivering or assisting with therapy and care programmes.
