As a Governance Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting school and trust committees, ensuring effective governance and compliance with statutory requirements. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support school and trust committees by providing efficient governance services and advice.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements in all governance processes.
  • Prepare and manage documentation, including agendas, minutes, and reports, with a high standard of clarity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, trustees, governors, and other stakeholders to facilitate decision-making.
  • Prioritize and manage competing workloads effectively, meeting deadlines with consistency.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of governance policies and procedures.
  • Provide clear and concise written and verbal communication to support the governance function.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of governance practices across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A Level/NVQ qualification at Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to edit documents with precision, correcting spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors.
  • Strong ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
  • Awareness of academy/corporate governance and the importance of regulatory compliance.

Preferred

  • Experience in education or governance settings.
  • Familiarity with multi-academy trusts or similar organizational structures.
  • Experience in supporting committees or governance processes.
  • Knowledge of educational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated interest in improving governance practices within schools.
