The Opportunity:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) within mainstream lessons and in small group settings. You will also deliver targeted interventions that help these students achieve their full potential. This role is ideal for those looking to gain experience and prepare for a career in teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs and disabilities in mainstream lessons and small group settings.
  • Deliver targeted interventions designed to improve student outcomes and engagement.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of individualized learning plans.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to the teaching team.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the school’s inclusion strategy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in education or a related field.
  • A commitment to supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Preferred

  • Experience in a teaching or support role within a school setting.
  • Previous involvement in initial teacher training (ITT) or a desire to pursue teaching as a career.
  • Experience with inclusive education practices.
  • Familiarity with SEND frameworks and strategies.
