Head Chef needed for a school offering a full-time, term-time only position with opportunities for menu development.

The Opportunity:

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for managing the kitchen and delivering high-quality meals to students and staff. This role offers the chance to innovate with menus and ensure that food is both nutritious and appealing, while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the kitchen team to ensure consistent food quality and service standards.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of students and staff.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of meals for approximately 750 pupils and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Catering Manager to maintain high standards of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and manage food stock, budgets, and inventory levels.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of internal hospitality events.
  • Provide leadership and support to kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef in a similar educational or catering setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to manage large-scale food production and service.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality meals and exceptional customer service.

Preferred

  • Experience in menu development and innovation.
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements and special diets.
  • Experience with catering for large events or schools.
  • Strong understanding of cost control and budget management.
