Key Responsibilities:

• Drive excellence in teaching and learning across Art and Design
• Promote high standards of creativity, technical skill, and visual literacy
• Foster confidence, originality, and enjoyment in artistic practice
• Use assessment effectively to support progress and secure strong outcomes
• Support pupils to become reflective, independent, and thoughtful artists
• Line manage and develop members of the Art and Design team
• Contribute to whole-school academic and cultural development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven leadership experience in a school setting
• Strong subject knowledge in Art and Design
• Experience in curriculum design and assessment
• Excellent classroom teaching and management skills
• Commitment to inclusion and student success

Preferred

• Experience in departmental leadership or middle leadership
• Background in promoting the arts across a school community
• Experience with innovative teaching practices and visual literacy
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
