Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Art and Design Technology department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a vision for the department aligned with the school’s strategic goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support to improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance teaching methodologies.
  • Oversee curriculum development and ensure it meets the needs of all students.
  • Support the professional development of department staff through coaching and training.
  • Engage with the wider school community and parents to promote the value of art and design.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a department within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Art and Design Technology.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Commitment to student welfare and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a strong focus on SEND support.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience in driving departmental improvement and raising standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
