The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Art & Design to lead a vibrant department that inspires creativity and innovation across all levels of education. This role is pivotal in shaping the artistic and cultural identity of the school, ensuring a high-quality, engaging Art & Design programme for students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Art & Design department to deliver a high-quality, IB-aligned curriculum.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive Art & Design programme that supports student creativity and technical skill development.
• Inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential in artistic and creative fields.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and enriched learning experience across the school.
• Support and mentor Art & Design staff to maintain the highest standards of teaching and learning.
• Contribute to the pastoral care and extra-curricular life of the school as a form tutor or co-tutor.
• Ensure the department is actively involved in exhibitions, competitions, and other creative opportunities.
• Promote a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence within the Art & Design department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience in leading an Art & Design department in a school setting.
• Strong knowledge of the IB Middle Years Programme and/or the IB Diploma.
• Excellent teaching and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
• Commitment to pastoral care and willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver a high-quality, engaging curriculum.

Preferred

• Experience in a school with a strong focus on academic excellence and student development.
• Background in teaching Art & Design at both primary and secondary levels.
• Experience with integrating technology into Art & Design teaching.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
