The Opportunity:

As Head of Art, you will lead and develop a successful Art department, inspiring students and staff alike. This role offers the chance to shape a dynamic curriculum and make a meaningful impact on student learning and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and inspire the Art department, establishing a clear vision for excellence in teaching and learning
  • Develop and deliver a knowledge-rich art curriculum rooted in ‘powerful knowledge’ and subject specificity
  • Line manage department staff, supporting professional growth and high-quality practice
  • Use assessment effectively to drive progress and attainment
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities
  • Promote a love of Art across the school and within the wider community
  • Ensure a disruption-free learning environment with clear systems and expectations
  • Support the implementation of evidence-informed teaching practices

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong subject knowledge in Art
  • Experience in teaching and leadership within a school setting
  • Commitment to high standards, equality of opportunity, and disruption-free learning
  • Ability to manage and develop a department effectively

Preferred

  • Experience with evidence-informed teaching practices, including Rosenshine and Lemov
  • Experience in collaborative planning and shared resources
  • Ambition for pupil and personal professional development
  • Familiarity with the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and CPD opportunities
