The Opportunity:
The Head of Mathematics will lead a dynamic and forward-thinking department, shaping the future of Mathematics education. This role combines strategic leadership with high-quality teaching, offering the chance to influence curriculum development and student outcomes across Years 7–11.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide vision and strategic direction for the Mathematics Department
- Develop and implement an innovative, engaging, and academically rigorous curriculum
- Support and mentor colleagues, modelling excellent teaching practice
- Lead departmental planning, assessment, and intervention strategies
- Ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning across all year groups
- Deliver inspiring Mathematics lessons to students of all abilities
- Develop and expand enrichment activities, clubs, and competitions
- Contribute to whole-school leadership and collaborative initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school setting
- Outstanding classroom teaching experience across Years 7–11
- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Commitment to raising standards and student achievement
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team
- Knowledge of GCSE Mathematics and successful teaching outcomes
- Experience with enrichment activities and extra-curricular programmes
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
