The Opportunity:

The Head of Mathematics will lead a dynamic and forward-thinking department, shaping the future of Mathematics education. This role combines strategic leadership with high-quality teaching, offering the chance to influence curriculum development and student outcomes across Years 7–11.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision and strategic direction for the Mathematics Department
  • Develop and implement an innovative, engaging, and academically rigorous curriculum
  • Support and mentor colleagues, modelling excellent teaching practice
  • Lead departmental planning, assessment, and intervention strategies
  • Ensure consistently high standards of teaching and learning across all year groups
  • Deliver inspiring Mathematics lessons to students of all abilities
  • Develop and expand enrichment activities, clubs, and competitions
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and collaborative initiatives

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting
  • Outstanding classroom teaching experience across Years 7–11
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment
  • Commitment to raising standards and student achievement

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team
  • Knowledge of GCSE Mathematics and successful teaching outcomes
  • Experience with enrichment activities and extra-curricular programmes
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
