The Opportunity:
As the Head of Biology Department, you will lead a high-performing team of teachers and guide 6 classes of A-level Biology students toward top university placements. This role is ideal for an experienced biology practitioner who is passionate about education and ready to take on a leadership role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Biology department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver and oversee the teaching of Biology at GCSE and A-level, including preparation for top university admissions.
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to support student success and achievement.
- Provide professional development and mentorship to department staff.
- Monitor and assess student progress to ensure continuous improvement in learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular learning and student engagement.
- Represent the department in meetings and contribute to the strategic development of the school.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and curriculum requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong subject knowledge in Biology and experience teaching at both GCSE and A-level.
- Proven leadership experience and the ability to manage a department effectively.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
- Experience in preparing students for top university placements.
Preferred
- Experience in middle leadership or a desire to take on leadership responsibilities.
- A passion for innovative teaching methods and continuous professional development.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
