Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Biology department to ensure outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student performance and engagement in Biology.
  • Support and mentor Biology teachers to enhance their professional development and leadership potential.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and promote a love of science.
  • Ensure the Biology curriculum aligns with school values and national standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Represent the department in school-wide meetings and contribute to strategic planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Biology and Science education.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
  • Proven track record of delivering high academic achievement in Biology.
  • Commitment to student welfare and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a school setting.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Familiarity with Catholic education values and ethos.
  • Experience with A-Level and GCSE Biology teaching.
