The Opportunity:
As the Head of Biology, you will lead a successful science department and drive student achievement in Biology. This is a key leadership role that offers the opportunity to shape the future of science education and inspire a passion for the subject in students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Biology department to ensure outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student performance and engagement in Biology.
- Support and mentor Biology teachers to enhance their professional development and leadership potential.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and promote a love of science.
- Ensure the Biology curriculum aligns with school values and national standards.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
- Represent the department in school-wide meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Biology and Science education.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
- Proven track record of delivering high academic achievement in Biology.
- Commitment to student welfare and safeguarding.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a school setting.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Familiarity with Catholic education values and ethos.
- Experience with A-Level and GCSE Biology teaching.
