The Opportunity:
A Head of Biology is required to lead a successful and dynamic department, delivering high-quality teaching and inspiring students in the sciences. This role offers the chance to shape the future of science education at a leading girls’ school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a committed and effective Biology department
- Develop and deliver engaging science resources and teaching strategies
- Support and contribute to the enrichment programme, including clubs, competitions, and outreach events
- Oversee the school’s Youth STEMM award scheme programme
- Organise and manage an annual STEM outreach event
- Collaborate with the Science Department to enhance student learning and achievement
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and students
- Ensure compliance with curriculum requirements and school policies
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in Biology or a related subject
- Proven experience in leading a Science department
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Commitment to student success and academic excellence
Preferred
- Experience with STEMM education and outreach initiatives
- Familiarity with Oxbridge preparation and enrichment activities
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative teaching resources
- Experience in managing large-scale events or programmes
