The Opportunity:

A Head of Biology is required to lead a successful and dynamic department, delivering high-quality teaching and inspiring students in the sciences. This role offers the chance to shape the future of science education at a leading girls’ school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a committed and effective Biology department
  • Develop and deliver engaging science resources and teaching strategies
  • Support and contribute to the enrichment programme, including clubs, competitions, and outreach events
  • Oversee the school’s Youth STEMM award scheme programme
  • Organise and manage an annual STEM outreach event
  • Collaborate with the Science Department to enhance student learning and achievement
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and students
  • Ensure compliance with curriculum requirements and school policies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in Biology or a related subject
  • Proven experience in leading a Science department
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • Commitment to student success and academic excellence

Preferred

  • Experience with STEMM education and outreach initiatives
  • Familiarity with Oxbridge preparation and enrichment activities
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative teaching resources
  • Experience in managing large-scale events or programmes
