The Opportunity:

As the Head of Biology, you will lead the delivery of the Science Curriculum at KS3 and Biology at I/GCSE & A Level. This is a key leadership role that shapes student learning and contributes to the school’s academic success and vibrant educational culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Biology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
• Develop and implement the Science Curriculum at KS3 and Biology at I/GCSE & A Level.
• Support and mentor Biology teachers to enhance subject knowledge and pedagogical practice.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
• Collaborate with other departments to promote a holistic and integrated approach to science education.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular activities and leadership initiatives.
• Maintain strong communication with parents and the school community to support student development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• A B.ED or degree and PGCE or equivalent with exceptional subject knowledge in Biology.
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a secondary school setting.
• Strong track record in fostering a caring and supportive atmosphere.
• Demonstrated commitment to student well-being, academic progress, and social development.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

• Experience in delivering the National Curriculum at KS3 and I/GCSE & A Level.
• Background in leading a department and managing a team of teachers.
• Experience with British curriculum schools or international schools.
• Knowledge of assessment and examination systems such as I/GCSE and A Level.
