The Opportunity:
As Head of Year, you will lead with vision and impact, providing outstanding pastoral support and fostering a culture where students can thrive academically and personally. This is a pivotal role in shaping student success and school-wide achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pastoral care of a year group, ensuring the emotional and academic wellbeing of all students.
- Develop and implement strategies to support student achievement and engagement across all areas of school life.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, senior leaders, and external partners to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Promote a positive school culture by modelling leadership, integrity, and commitment to the school's values.
- Deliver regular and constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure the safety, inclusion, and wellbeing of all students through effective safeguarding and pastoral practices.
- Represent the school at events and meetings, promoting its vision and values externally.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a leadership or pastoral role within a school setting.
- Strong track record in teaching and delivering outstanding student outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all students.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a year group or similar pastoral role.
- Familiarity with data management systems and student tracking tools.
- Experience in curriculum development and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Knowledge of inclusive practices and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
