The Opportunity:
As Head of Computer Science, you will lead a dynamic department and drive the strategic direction of computing and digital learning. This is a key leadership role with the potential to shape the future of the subject and inspire the next generation of digital innovators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Computer Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Design and implement an engaging, forward-thinking curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Inspire and motivate students to develop computational thinking and digital skills for the future.
- Support and mentor colleagues, fostering a collaborative and innovative teaching environment.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continuous improvement in achievement and outcomes.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
- Stay up to date with developments in the field of computing and digital learning.
- Represent the department in meetings and external events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Computer Science and leadership roles.
- Proven ability to raise achievement and drive curriculum development.
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for computing and digital learning.
- Experience in managing and leading a department.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Ofsted inspections or working in an outstanding school.
- Knowledge of current trends in computing education and digital innovation.
- Experience in developing and delivering professional development for teachers.
- Familiarity with teaching and learning strategies that support diverse learners.
