The Opportunity:

As Head of Computer Science, you will lead a dynamic department and drive the strategic direction of computing and digital learning. This is a key leadership role with the potential to shape the future of the subject and inspire the next generation of digital innovators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Computer Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Design and implement an engaging, forward-thinking curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Inspire and motivate students to develop computational thinking and digital skills for the future.
  • Support and mentor colleagues, fostering a collaborative and innovative teaching environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continuous improvement in achievement and outcomes.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the field of computing and digital learning.
  • Represent the department in meetings and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Computer Science and leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to raise achievement and drive curriculum development.
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for computing and digital learning.
  • Experience in managing and leading a department.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with Ofsted inspections or working in an outstanding school.
  • Knowledge of current trends in computing education and digital innovation.
  • Experience in developing and delivering professional development for teachers.
  • Familiarity with teaching and learning strategies that support diverse learners.
