The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Design and Technology Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a robust and engaging curriculum, aligned with the school's vision and educational goals.
  • Support and mentor staff, fostering a culture of continuous professional development and collaboration.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring all learners achieve their full potential.
  • Work closely with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and enhance the overall learning experience.
  • Ensure the department is well-resourced and equipped to deliver a high-quality education.
  • Promote inclusivity, creativity, and practical skills through innovative teaching methods.
  • Represent the department at school-level meetings and contribute to strategic planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology or Product Design.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student success.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches and assessment strategies.
  • Experience with extracurricular activities or industry partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of current trends in Design and Technology education.
