The Opportunity:
As the Head of Geography, you will lead and inspire a dynamic department, shaping the future of Geography education within a school that values academic excellence and student development. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Geography department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
- Develop and implement a progressive and engaging Geography curriculum aligned with school values and educational standards.
- Support and mentor Geography teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform teaching strategies and improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape school-wide initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.
- Ensure the department maintains high standards of behaviour, discipline, and academic achievement.
- Represent the Geography department at school events and external meetings.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department.
- Strong subject knowledge in Geography, with a passion for teaching and learning.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery at secondary level.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to the school’s values, including student success, inclusivity, and academic excellence.
Preferred
- Experience in managing a large or multi-qualified department.
- Experience with Ofsted inspections or school improvement initiatives.
- Background in pastoral care or student support.
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technology in Geography education.
