Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement a progressive and engaging Geography curriculum aligned with school values and educational standards.
  • Support and mentor Geography teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform teaching strategies and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape school-wide initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.
  • Ensure the department maintains high standards of behaviour, discipline, and academic achievement.
  • Represent the Geography department at school events and external meetings.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Geography, with a passion for teaching and learning.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery at secondary level.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values, including student success, inclusivity, and academic excellence.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a large or multi-qualified department.
  • Experience with Ofsted inspections or school improvement initiatives.
  • Background in pastoral care or student support.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technology in Geography education.
