The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design and Technology, you will lead a high-performing department and shape a dynamic curriculum that inspires students. This is a role for a visionary leader who values precision, excellence, and the power of "making" in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Design and Technology department.
  • Ensure the delivery of a knowledge-rich curriculum aligned with exam board requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and support to teaching staff and technicians.
  • Maintain and promote the highest standards of health and safety in the department.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Engage students through inspiring and creative teaching practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance student outcomes.
  • Support and lead the development of extra-curricular activities in Design and Technology.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology
  • Experience teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
  • A clear vision for a knowledge-rich curriculum
  • Ability to implement a range of teaching and learning strategies
  • Commitment to extra-curricular programmes
  • Ability to manage and maintain good classroom behaviour
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team working ability
  • Suitability to work with children and young people

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team
  • Familiarity with current D&T educational trends and technologies
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies
  • Leadership experience in a school or educational setting

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary within the Outer London Main / Upper Pay Range
  • Additional TLR 2/3: £8,171 per annum
