The Opportunity:

Join a vibrant school as the Head of PE and play a key role in shaping the physical education and sporting culture for students across KS3 to KS5. This is a pivotal position that supports the school’s mission to deliver excellence in teaching and pastoral care, while promoting Catholic values and a holistic approach to student development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
• Lead and manage the PE department under the direction of an Assistant Headteacher.
• Support the school’s pastoral care responsibilities and contribute to student well-being.
• Promote Catholic values and beliefs within the school community.
• Collaborate with other curriculum areas to enhance student engagement and learning.
• Develop and implement PE strategies that align with the school’s educational vision.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to PE staff and students.
• Organise and oversee sporting events and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Qualified teacher with experience in teaching PE at Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Potential to teach PE at Key Stage 5.
• Experience in leading and managing a department.
• Commitment to Catholic values and the school’s ethos.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide pastoral care and support to students.

Preferred

• Experience in delivering CPD and professional development.
• Background in sports leadership or coaching.
• Experience with pastoral care and student welfare.
• Knowledge of inclusive education and differentiated teaching.
