The Opportunity:

As the Head of Drama, you will lead a passionate and dedicated department, shaping a high-quality curriculum that empowers students to achieve excellence in drama. This is a key leadership role with the potential to make a lasting impact on student outcomes and departmental success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Drama department, ensuring a high-quality curriculum and consistent delivery across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Develop and implement teaching strategies that promote student engagement, progression, and achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular links and support whole-school initiatives.
  • Monitor and assess student performance, providing targeted feedback and support to improve outcomes.
  • Represent the department at meetings, events, and external forums, promoting the value of drama education.
  • Support the professional development of teaching staff and contribute to departmental training.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school’s values and safeguarding policies.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s strategic vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in drama education.
  • Proven leadership experience within a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of drama pedagogy and curriculum design.
  • Experience of teaching Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Involvement in extracurricular drama activities or productions.
  • Experience with inclusive teaching practices and student pastoral care.
  • Familiarity with the Beacon Multi Academy Trust and its values.
