The Opportunity:

As the Head of Early Years Education, you will lead the early years provision for children aged 1–6 across two sites. This role is pivotal in delivering a high-quality, bilingual early years programme aligned with German and UK educational standards, ensuring a supportive and inspiring learning environment for all children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Kinderhaus, including staffing, budgeting and scheduling
  • Ensure compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, health and safety, and German educational standards
  • Oversee curriculum development and support effective teaching and learning across both sites
  • Monitor children’s progress and provide appropriate support for individual needs
  • Collaborate with SENCo and specialists to support children with additional needs
  • Maintain strong communication with parents through regular meetings and updates
  • Recruit, develop and manage a high-performing early years team
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team culture
  • Represent the school to prospective families and support admissions processes
  • Organise and lead events such as open days and school activities
  • Contribute to strategic planning and leadership across the institution

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences or related field (Level 4/5, EYTS or QTS preferred)
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Safeguarding training (Level 3)
  • 5–10 years experience in early years education
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience (team management, planning, budgeting)
  • Strong knowledge of child development, EYFS and German early years standards

Preferred

  • German language skills
  • Experience with bilingual education
  • Experience in managing multiple sites or locations
  • Experience with special educational needs support
