The Opportunity:
As the Head of Early Years Education, you will lead the early years provision for children aged 1–6 across two sites. This role is pivotal in delivering a high-quality, bilingual early years programme aligned with German and UK educational standards, ensuring a supportive and inspiring learning environment for all children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Kinderhaus, including staffing, budgeting and scheduling
- Ensure compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, health and safety, and German educational standards
- Oversee curriculum development and support effective teaching and learning across both sites
- Monitor children’s progress and provide appropriate support for individual needs
- Collaborate with SENCo and specialists to support children with additional needs
- Maintain strong communication with parents through regular meetings and updates
- Recruit, develop and manage a high-performing early years team
- Foster a collaborative and positive team culture
- Represent the school to prospective families and support admissions processes
- Organise and lead events such as open days and school activities
- Contribute to strategic planning and leadership across the institution
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences or related field (Level 4/5, EYTS or QTS preferred)
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Safeguarding training (Level 3)
- 5–10 years experience in early years education
- At least 2 years of leadership experience (team management, planning, budgeting)
- Strong knowledge of child development, EYFS and German early years standards
Preferred
- German language skills
- Experience with bilingual education
- Experience in managing multiple sites or locations
- Experience with special educational needs support
Compensation & Benefits:
