Job Description

Summary:

Head of Years 5 and 6 sought for a leading prep school. Lead pastoral and academic provision for Years 5 and 6.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Years 5 and 6, you will lead the academic and pastoral provision for pupils during a critical stage of their education. This role offers the opportunity to shape the learning experience and support student progress, while contributing to a vibrant and values-driven school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the academic and pastoral provision for Years 5 and 6.
  • Work closely with form tutors and senior colleagues to support student wellbeing and development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders regarding student progress and school initiatives.
  • Deliver and lead assemblies and year-group activities that promote school values and engagement.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students.
  • Support the smooth transition of students to the senior school.
  • Contribute to the leadership and strategic direction of the Prep School.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching and leading in a school setting.
  • Strong classroom practice and a commitment to student wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in pastoral leadership and student support.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and students.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum and its implementation.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Background in leading extracurricular activities and events.
