The Opportunity:

As the Head of English Department, you will lead and develop a high-achieving department with a strong track record in iGCSE and A level results. You will champion the HPL attitudes and pathway, shaping the teaching and learning experience across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring academic excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive curriculum aligned with the school’s educational vision.
  • Supervise and support teachers, providing professional development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring high standards of achievement across all levels.
  • Promote and enhance the co-curricular aspects of the English department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide objectives.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for students.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources and facilities to support teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in English education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school department setting.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes at iGCSE and A level.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogical best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading departmental initiatives and driving academic improvements.
  • Familiarity with the HPL attitudes and pathway.
  • Experience in a boarding or independent school environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
