The Opportunity:

As Head of English Faculty, you will lead a dedicated team and drive excellence in teaching, learning, and student outcomes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English faculty, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and improve student progress and attainment across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Work closely with colleagues to deliver a challenging and engaging curriculum.
  • Support and mentor staff to enhance teaching quality and professional development.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment with school values and strategic goals.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources and time for planning and professional development.
  • Engage with parents and the wider community to support student learning and school values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a department or faculty within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong track record in delivering high standards of teaching and student achievement in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and develop colleagues through effective leadership.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Alignment with values of manners, hard work, and honesty.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing large teams and driving school improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with English as a Second Language teaching practices.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders.
