The Opportunity:

The Head of Food and Nutrition will lead a dynamic and popular subject within the Design and Technology Faculty, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development, drive innovation, and inspire both students and colleagues in a school with a strong academic record and a supportive culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Food and Nutrition curriculum, ensuring it is ambitious, inclusive, and engaging.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Faculty and other subject leaders to maintain and improve standards of teaching and learning.
  • Oversee assessment, quality assurance, and progression strategies within the subject.
  • Promote a collaborative and forward-looking departmental culture.
  • Develop and implement enrichment opportunities that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Support the professional development of staff within the subject area.
  • Ensure the subject aligns with the school’s vision of excellence and compassion.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and outcomes in Food and Nutrition.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong subject knowledge in Food and Nutrition.
  • Proven experience in leading a department or subject area.
  • Excellent classroom practice and teaching experience.
  • Commitment to high standards of student progress and outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and senior leadership.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with assessment and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience with enrichment and extracurricular programs.
  • Leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience with evidence-informed teaching and professional development.
