The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of History and Politics to lead and develop our thriving departments, where results are consistently strong. The successful candidate will teach History from Key Stage 3 through to A Level, and Politics at A Level, demonstrating a commitment to outstanding teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the History and Politics Departments, ensuring continued academic excellence and student engagement.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 and A Level History, and A Level Politics.
  • Support and mentor junior staff within the department, promoting best practice and professional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support to ensure all students achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the development of the school’s curriculum and co-curricular programme, aligning with the school’s mission and values.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents, students, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, curriculum planning, and school events.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of resources and technology in teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in History and Politics at Key Stage 3 and A Level.
  • Proven track record of delivering outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and management experience, preferably in a senior teaching role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s mission, values, and ethos.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Experience with co-curricular and pastoral programmes.
  • Familiarity with the Catholic ethos and Benedictine values.
  • Experience with the UK education system and examination processes.
