Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Social Sciences department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across Sociology and Psychology
  • Develop and implement departmental strategies to improve student achievement and engagement
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning practices, providing support and guidance to departmental staff
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded curriculum
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development and staff well-being
  • Represent the department at school-level meetings and external events
  • Support the school’s mission by fostering an inclusive and inspiring learning environment
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and equality policies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting
  • Qualified teacher with specialist knowledge in Social Sciences, particularly Sociology and/or Psychology
  • Strong track record in raising student achievement and attainment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental management

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes
  • Experience with professional development and staff training
  • Knowledge of innovative teaching methods and technologies
  • Experience with multi-cultural and inclusive education settings
