Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Social Sciences department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across Sociology and Psychology
- Develop and implement departmental strategies to improve student achievement and engagement
- Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning practices, providing support and guidance to departmental staff
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded curriculum
- Promote a culture of continuous professional development and staff well-being
- Represent the department at school-level meetings and external events
- Support the school’s mission by fostering an inclusive and inspiring learning environment
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and equality policies
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting
- Qualified teacher with specialist knowledge in Social Sciences, particularly Sociology and/or Psychology
- Strong track record in raising student achievement and attainment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Experience in curriculum development and departmental management
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes
- Experience with professional development and staff training
- Knowledge of innovative teaching methods and technologies
- Experience with multi-cultural and inclusive education settings
