The Opportunity:

As a Head of House, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the pastoral experience of around 300 students. You will lead with empathy, drive positive outcomes, and support students in both academic and personal development. This is a leadership position that requires a deep commitment to student wellbeing and a passion for making a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the pastoral care of approximately 300 students, ensuring a positive and supportive House ethos.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a sense of community and trust.
  • Provide effective support and guidance in addressing pastoral issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Use data on behaviour, attendance, and academic progress to inform targeted interventions and support strategies.
  • Model and promote excellent behaviour management practices across the school.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to support students with additional needs.
  • Work closely with other Heads of House in the Wellbeing space to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to pastoral leadership.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's pastoral policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a school setting, with a focus on pastoral care.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Experience in managing student behaviour and supporting vulnerable students.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to drive effective interventions and support strategies.
  • Sound knowledge of external agencies and support services relevant to student wellbeing.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos, values, and mission.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching, with a strong subject specialism.
  • Familiarity with the school’s curriculum and pastoral structures.
  • Experience in leading a House system or similar student support structure.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A passion for student development and a commitment to continuous professional growth.
