The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Humanities to lead and inspire Key Stage 4 students through a dynamic and impactful curriculum. This role offers the chance to shape the future of humanities education and influence student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the humanities department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a challenging and engaging curriculum for Key Stage 4 students.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff within the humanities department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted intervention where needed.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide objectives.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning culture across the school.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in secondary education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a teaching role.
  • Strong subject knowledge in humanities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to student welfare and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with Key Stage 4 curriculum requirements.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Knowledge of current educational research and pedagogical practices.
