The Opportunity:

As Maths Second in Charge, you will play a key role in leading and developing the Maths Faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven teacher to take on a leadership role and contribute to the school’s vision of academic excellence and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development of the Maths Faculty across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Work closely with the Head of Department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development and innovation in teaching practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement school-wide strategies and initiatives.
  • Engage with students, parents, and the wider school community to enhance the learning experience.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the curriculum and assessment strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Maths at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Strong leadership and team-working skills.
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
  • Excellent classroom practice and a track record of student achievement.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or second-in-charge role within a school.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices in Maths teaching.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Pathways Approach or similar student-centered learning models.
