Primary Teacher job opportunity in Surrey with a specialist school supporting children with communication needs.

About the School:

A school dedicated to providing specialist primary education in a calm, nurturing environment for children aged 6–11 with communication difficulties typically associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate Primary Teacher to join our speech, language and communication needs class. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students with complex needs, while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and develop curriculum plans tailored to students’ educational, physical, and social needs.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team to support student progress.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalised learning targets in line with school policies.
  • Assess, track, and report student progress to stakeholders regularly.
  • Create structured, engaging lessons with clear objectives and challenge.
  • Contribute to reviews of Statements, EHC plans, PEPs, and LAC meetings.
  • Stay informed on autism-related developments to support effective teaching.
  • Work positively and non-confrontationally to meet individual needs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with children with speech, language and communication needs
  • Ability to teach across a range of subjects
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH and PDA profiles
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge

Preferred

  • Experience teaching in a specialist setting
  • Experience with early years foundation stage (EYFS) teaching
  • Experience with curriculum development for students with complex needs
